Ash Wednesday February 17

Epiphany is almost over and we are coming to a time when people begin to contemplate the season of Lent. We begin this season with the observance of Ash Wednesday where we come together and remind ourselves "that we are dust and to dust we shall return" A time of penance a time to sacrifice. Not because God needs us to give up something for lent but to remind us of what he gave up for us. So when you "give up" something for lent do it so that it will remind you of what Christ did for you. I remember a few years back I gave up Mexican food, and each time I wanted to eat those chips and salsa, devour a burrito I would be pulled back to understanding the great gift God gave me through his sacrifice for me. Its a great way to remember the Lenten season, and to celebrate the great love that Christ had for each one of us.

Advent Services Wednesday Nights at 7 PM

Please join us for a time of reflection of Christ's first coming and preparing for his next coming. We are using Vespers service so please come and join us.

Christmas Dinner Saturday Night

Well I cannot believe Thanksgiving is already over and we are about to celebrate our annual Christmas dinner at the church. It is always such a good time with ham and all the fixings. Everyone is welcome to join us. We meet in the fellowship hall at 6:30 pm hope you can join us.

Word on Wednesday

Word on Wednesday will be suspended until October 7, Pastor will be out of town over the next few weeks.

Confirmation

Confirmation Classes will begin Tuesday October 6 at 3:30PM . We have 5 children signed up so far. Please keep our class and congregation in your prayers.

Church Picnic Sunday August 30

Come and join us for fun and fellowship at our annual church picnic. We will meet immediately after service. Sloppy Joe's will be provided please bring a food item to share.

New Vicar

I would like to let everyone know that we are getting a new vicar. His name is Brian Westgate and he will be living and mostly working with Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Leadville. We are having a potluck dinner for him at GSLC on Saturday August 1, 2009 at 5:30pm and his installation will be at both Christ Lutheran and Good Shepherd Sunday August 2, 2009.
